JAN SCHMUCKAL TONALIST/PAINTER
A native of St Charles Illinois, Jan was the kind of kid always doing some sort of art project, thanks to her very indulgent parents! She graduated from the University of Illinois in 1986 with a degree in Industrial Design. Jan spent many years in the Industrial Design business and began to get restless to get back to painting, which she hadn’t done since High School. At that time, she made a conscious decision to go into an impressionistic direction, as an artist, rather than a realist because it provided a break from the realistic renderings that she did everyday as a designer. She honed her skills, entered many regional & national shows and in 2005 opened an Art Gallery in a 112-yr old house in Geneva Illinois. Jan’s says about her paintings….”The changing light of day and the moods it evokes are the foundation of all my oil paintings. Each piece usually starts with a powerful, simple composition, which then evolves into a theme in which strong light, shadow and deep color are within the primary subject. Strength, mood and simplicity are my primary intentions….” Jan cannot be here with us in person for our First Friday event, however her numerous Lake Arrowhead and Mountain Landscape Oil Paintings will be….and they speak for themselves! Join us and experience the emotion of this very accomplished Tonalist Painter for yourself. This event is one you do not want to miss!
ROBERT DAL PONTE METAL ARTIST
Robert Dal Ponte has made his home in Lake Arrowhead since the late 70's. Utilizing his skill and expertise as a General Building and Ornamental Metals Contractor, Bob's work has embellished numerous exclusive Estates here in Lake Arrowhead. He has experimented with many different mediums to express his Artistic abilities, but keeps drifting back to metal. "I like the challenge of working with such a durable material, such as Iron: to forge, bend, weld, then finish the sculpture to it looks alive, soft and flowing." Following a natural interest in Art, Bob's influences includes a variety of Art classes during his college years, such as Art history, drawing and sculpting, yet is primarily self-taught. He has collaborated with local and international artists such as Wendy Maree, Jill Shwaiko, Kenny Majors and Craig Aaron. We are honored to feature Bob and his amazing Iron Art created exclusively for our First Friday event.
